Ultrasound | Cessnock
Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to form images of your body. The procedure is very safe even during pregnancy.
Information on the preparation required for any ultrasound service can be found in “preparing for your ultrasound” below.
During the procedure, clear gel will be applied to the area to be examined, and an ultrasound probe run over the skin. This can take from 15 minutes to over one hour, depending on the complexity of the service.
All Ultrasounds are reported by our radiologists the same day, at which point the doctor who requested the procedure will receive the result electronically.
If it is urgent, please notify staff so we can report it as soon as possible, and phone the result to the requesting doctor.
